Core Tip |
Orthobiologics are biological materials that are intended for the regeneration or healing of bone, cartilage and soft tissues. Commonly discussed orthobiologics include hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma, bone marrow, adipose tissue and expanded mesenchymal stem cells. We explain the concepts and definitions of each orthobiologic and the literature regarding the use for the hip joint. Each biological therapy has its own benefits and indications; however, it is important to note that the characterization of orthobiologics, injection method and evaluation analysis are of major importance for the use of biological therapies. |
