No consensus is available in the literature about risk factors for lymph node metastasis (LNM) in T1 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. This meta-analysis is the first to comprehensively evaluate LNM only in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients with T1 stage. We investigated the relationship between LNM and the factors of demographic and clinicopathological characteristics. The results showed that risk factors associated with LNM were tumor size, tumor location, T1 substage, tumor differentiation, lymphovascular invasion and macroscopic type. |
