| Core Tip |
Type 2 diabetes has elicited worldwide public health concerns, and mechanism regulating insulin secretion is unclear. We found that vascular endothelial growth factor B (VEGF-B) prevents MIN6 cells from secreting insulin through the PI3K-AKT (phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-serine/threonine kinase) pathway. We have provided mechanistic insights into the effect of VEGF-B on insulin secretion and suggest VEGF-B as a new target that affects the occurrence and development of type 2 diabetes. |
