Core Tip |
In the scenario of the current pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 virus, it is essential finding the possible risk factors for the occurrence of its relative disease, including pharmacological therapies commonly taken by the population. Among these drugs, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) represent one of the classes most widely used. In this review, we have tried to explore the link occurring between the use of proton pump inhibitors and the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection, analyzing the strengths and the weaknesses of this relationship, using the currently available data. |
