| Core Tip |
Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a major cause of non-healing ulcers, lower limb amputation and mortality, especially in people with diabetes. The ominous association between PAD and diabetic foot disease is largely under-reported. Hence, it is under-diagnosed and undertreated. This article reviews the impact of PAD in diabetes, its risk factors (traditional and non-traditional), and pathophysiology, and examines some recent innovations in its management. |
