| Core Tip |
Based on the special environmental cue sensing abilities induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) we are proposing their utility as suitable sensoring systems for metabolic disease. As fibromyalgia and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome body-fluids show unique metabolic profiles, the applicability of iPSC-based bioassays for these conditions are worth investigating. We envisage the development of iPSC platforms which allow differential diagnosis and disease-specific high through put drug-screening platforms. Using healthy iPSCs and patient body fluids has significant advantages over using cell lines, patient primary cells or iPSC’s derived from patients. A consistent iPSC’s control line platform will provide a robust metabolic/phenotypic model allowing faster, cost-effective, large cohort screenings. |
