| Core Tip |
Following its introduction in 1980, the percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube has become the modality of choice for nutritional support in patients who require long-term enteral feeding. In this review we describe the indications and contraindications of PEG tube placement. Potential complications of a PEG tube as well as their management and preventive measures are discussed in detail. A comprehensive review of all aspects of the PEG tube, in addition to providing practical tips in aftercare and management of potential complications make this review unique amongst similar articles. |
