Herediatry Pancreatitis is associated with the inheritance of pathologic genetic mutations. Recent work in pediatrics has isolated genetic variants responsible for early onset and rapidly progressive disease. Early identification of at risk patients and timely referral to appropriate tertiary centers has the ability to limit health care cost and substantial sequelae of this aggressive disease continuum. Further research is warranted to better define preventative management strategies. |
