Oxaliplatin-induced neuropathy (OIN) is a serious acute and chronic complication of colorectal cancer chemotherapy. This study aims to offer a real-world perspective on the incidence of acute OIN during chemotherapy and its impact on the quality of life. We found that more than 50% of colon cancer patients discontinue chemotherapy, and the main reason is neuropathy. Also, individuals with neuropathy have a lower quality of life, independent of other factors. All in all, as the number of cancer survivors increases, guidelines should be reviewed in order to minimize the risk of chronic OIN as much as possible. |
