Core Tip |
Alpha-defensin is an antimicrobial peptide widely studied in patients with periprosthetic joint infection. Indeed, the analysis of alpha-defensin concentration in the synovial fluid by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) has been gaining ground. However, there is a lack of information regarding the detailed technique for synovial fluid ELISA, particularly in regard to its dilution. Therefore, this study analyzed the influence of dilution in synovial fluid samples for the alpha-defensin ELISA method. We presume that this novel information may be helpful to make ELISA more reproducible and widely accessible for different treatment centers worldwide. |
