This retrospective study was focused on the correlation between thrombopoietin (TPO) levels and platelet indices and inflammatory factors in sepsis patients. The potential role played by TPO in sepsis was investigated. The results demonstrated that TPO was significantly elevated in the sepsis group compared to the non-infected control group, with a negative correlation with platelet count (PLT) and a positive correlation with inflammatory factors. TPO may be an acute response protein in sepsis and may be negatively regulated by decreased PLT. |
