Core Tip |
Dermatology was among the first medical specialties to adopt bioinformatics methodology, and Psoriasis, with its high prevalence, among the first diseases. Genome-wide association studies identified close to 50 genetic predisposition loci, to date. Recently, large-scale transcriptome analysis using DNA microarrays identified the important signaling pathways and regulators of gene expression in psoriasis. These efforts, and the fundamental knowledge they provide will lead to personalized medicine, i.e., to specific, individualized treatments of psoriatic patients in the near future. |
