Core Tip |
There is a high prevalence of osteopenia/osteoporosis in adult outpatients with ulcerative colitis in remission. Patients with ulcerative colitis had a 22.4 times greater chance of developing reduced bone mineral density than healthy individuals. Lower values of body mass index and body fat indicators were identified in patients with ulcerative colitis with low bone mineral density. Low bone mineral density was associated with males and those without excess weight and with normal waist circumference. |
