Core Tip |
Current treatment options for patients with severe alcoholic hepatitis (AH) are unsatisfactory, resulting in high mortality rates. Liver regeneration is impaired in patients with severe AH and represents an appealing therapeutic target. Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor, alone or in combination with stem cell therapy represents a promising therapeutic option for severe AH. Contrary to animal and several small human studies, evidence from recent studies failed to show benefit of these liver regeneration therapies in patients with advanced alcohol related liver disease. |
