Core Tip |
Symptomatic treatment is mainly adopted for chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) in modern medicine, and no drugs are available to promote gastric acid secretion and alleviate gastric gland atrophy. Our study shows that treatment with Granule Dendrobii (GD) for 8 wk was effective in reducing weight loss, gastric mucosal inflammation, atrophy and intestinal metaplasia, and loss of hemoglobin and erythrocytes in a rat model of CAG induced by N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine. GD also alleviated the overexpression of PCNA and B-cell lymphoma-2 in CAG rats. These results provide new evidence on the use of GD not only for improving clinical symptoms but also for normalizing the abnormal histological changes of CAG. |
