Core Tip |
Laparoscopy is the gold standard for cholecystectomy. The layman may perceive laparoscopy as “minimally invasive”, but the procedure has profound effects on the physiology of the patient. The surgeon and anaesthesiologist must be well versed with these pathophysiological changes so that the safety of the patient is not compromised. Robotic assisted laparoscopic surgeries are gaining popularity; here the role of the anaesthesiologist is paramount. Anaesthesiologists must fine-tune their anaesthetic techniques to meet the specific requirements of such operations. |
