Core Tip |
To our knowledge, this prospective cohort study is the first to report the long-term dynamic effects of the tenofovir plus lamivudine plus efavirenz regimen and the baseline CD4+ T cell count on glucose metabolism in male patients living with human immunodeficiency virus. The result showed that gradual increases in the fasting plasma glucose, impaired fasting glucose rate and glycosylated hemoglobin, due to insulin resistance but rather to significantly reduced islet β cell function, regardless of glucose metabolism disorder or not at baseline. Baseline CD4+ T cell count could impact on, fasting plasma glucose and homeostasis model assessment of β cell function. |
