Core Tip |
Thalassemia is a major public health problem because of its high prevalence ranging from 2%-5%. Like other chronic illnesses, patients with thalassemia are vulnerable to emotional and behavioral problems making them susceptible to a myriad of psychiatric disorders. The emotional and psychological problems faced by thalassaemic children and their caregivers are often overlooked resulting in increased suffering and poor outcome. In this observational, cross-sectional study we analyze 46 children with transfusion-dependent Thalassemia for the presence of psychiatric disorders along with the caregiver burden experienced by the caregivers of these children. |
