Core Tip |
Celiac disease (CD) is an immune-mediated disorder precipitated by the ingestion of gluten in genetically predisposed individuals. Population-based studies have shown the risk of cancer among patients with CD; however, the magnitude of the risk of pancreatic cancer (PC) in association with CD is much less clear. Therefore, In this multicenter retrospective cohort study, we analyzed the risk of PC in patients with CD. We examined the incidence of PC in patients with CD compared with a propensity-matched cohort of patients without CD. We found that patients with CD were at increased risk of PC. Risk elevation persisted beyond the first year after diagnosis to reference individuals without CD from the general population. |
