Core Tip |
Gastrointestinal metastases of lung cancer, especially colorectal metastases, are rare. We report a colonic obstruction caused by lung cancer metastasis to the descending colon, which was successfully treated with left hemicolectomy after endoscopic decompression with a self-expandable metallic stent. Although chemotherapy is the mainstay of treatment for gastrointestinal metastases of lung cancer, successful resection of solitary colonic metastases with prolonged survival suggests that surgical intervention may be the treatment of choice for selected patients with colonic metastasis from lung cancer. |
