Core Tip |
Aggressive angiomyolipoma is an extremely rare benign mesenchymal tumor originally described as a locally recurrent mucinous spindle cell tumor. Aggressive angiomyolipoma was first identified in 1983 and fewer than 50 male patients have been reported to date. Aggressive angiomyolipomas in the scrotum are often misdiagnosed on physical examination and resemble other urological disorders such as testicular tumors, varicoceles, and inguinal hernias. Surgery is the preferred treatment option, and there may be new alternatives after hormone therapy. Aggressive angiomyolipoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a parametrial tumor of the male genital region presenting as a clinically significant mass. |
