In this study, the posterior approach (PL) to bipolar hemiarthroplasty for femoral neck fractures was associated with a significantly higher complication rate (22.7%) than the direct anterior approach (DAA); 7.6% (P = 0.0013). This difference in complication rates probably reflects the significant difference in postoperative dislocation rates, as no dislocations were encountered in the DAA group compared to a dislocation rate of 9.1% in the PL group (P value = 0.0015). |
