Core Tip |
We reviewed the outcome data between Hispanic and non-Hispanic patients diagnosed with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease/metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis in both University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) and separately in a United States national cohort to determine if disparities in outcome were confined to a geographically-defined region, i.e., Southeast Texas, or observed nationally. Outcomes studied included rates of all-cause mortality, hepatocellular carcinoma, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and liver fibrosis/cirrhosis between the Hispanic and non-Hispanic. Outcome disparities between Hispanic and non-Hispanic groups were observed in the UTMB and United States cohorts at similar rates in all outcomes with the exception of all-cause mortality in the UTMB cohort. |
