Key Words Signet ring cell carcinoma; Gastric cancer; Oesophageal cancer; Poorly cohesive gastric cancer; Diffuse gastric cancer
Core Tip This retrospective review confirms that in a select group of patients, surgical management for upper gastrointestinal signet ring cell carcinoma may provide a survival benefit and should be considered. Demographic factors such as age, smoking status and gender do not have a relationship with survival. Patients who had surgical management, those with a lower charlson comorbidity index, and those with a lower stage of disease had a significantly improved survival.
