Core Tip |
Glaucoma is caused by increased intraocular pressure that damages the optic nerve leading to blindness. Intraocular pressure can be relieved by implanting a drainage device. We report here a case of a 55-year-old female who developed uveitis glaucoma hyphema (UGH) syndrome as a complication after drainage implantation surgery. After treatment with a second surgery to shorten the drainage tube, the patient recovered well with a decrease in intraocular pressure and clearing of the hyphema. This represents the first report of UGH syndrome occurring after the implantation of a drainage device to treat glaucoma. |
