Core Tip |
This study included 135 patients with liver cirrhosis who underwent transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS), and spleen volumes were elevated by computed tomography-scan imaging. The results showed that there was a significant decrease in spleen volume after TIPS in overt hepatic encephalopathy (OHE) patients. The patients with smaller spleen volume had a higher incidence of HE. The preoperative spleen volume is an independent risk factor for postoperative OHE in TIPS. In conclusion, spleen volume is closely related to the occurrence of OHE after TIPS. Preoperative spleen volume as an independent risk factor for post-TIPS OHE. |
