Core Tip |
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is believed to be related to the vicious cycle of oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction caused by metabolic abnormalities. Electroacupuncture (EA) is widely used in the clinical adjuvant treatment of DPN. However, the specific mechanism is unclear up to now. In our experiment, the rat model of DPN was established by feeding high-fat diet combined with injection of streptozotocin. The final results indicate that the improvement effect of EA on DPN rats may be related to the regulation of SIRT1/PGC-1α axis which not only activate mitochondrial biogenesis, but also reduce oxidative stress and protect undamaged mitochondria. |
