Lower gastrointestinal bleeding; Appendiceal bleeding; Colonoscopy; Vascular malformation; Laparoscopic appendectomy; Case report |
Core Tip |
Acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding (LGIB) is common, however, appendiceal bleeding is extremely rare. The diagnosis of appendiceal bleeding is challenging because of its rarity and lack of related guidelines and consensus. Colonoscopy is extremely important, and bowel preparation is not routinely recommended for patients with acute LGIB. Laparoscopic appendectomy is the most appropriate treatment for appendiceal bleeding. |
