Sudden loss of hearing at middle- and high-frequency of the descending type; Methylprednisolone sodium succinate; Intratympanic injection; Intravenous injection |
| Core Tip |
This retrospective analysis compares the therapeutic effectiveness of methylprednisolone sodium succinate (MPSS) administered via different routes in combination with conventional drugs for mid to high-frequency sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL). Intratympanic (IT) injection of MPSS combined with conventional treatment demonstrates superior efficacy and safety compared to systemic administration via intravenous infusion and solely IT injection of MPSS, leading to significant improvements in patients' hearing thresholds, speech recognition rates, and symptom disappearance times, as well as lower adverse reaction and recurrence rates. This approach provides valuable insights for optimizing treatment strategies for mid to high-frequency SSNHL. |
