Core Tip |
To date, no cases of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) arising in the ipsilateral retroperitoneum following simple nephrectomy (SN) have been reported. We aimed to share our experience of treating RCC in the ipsilateral retroperitoneum of a 63-year-old Asian woman who underwent SN for a renal abscess 27 years ago. When evaluating retroperitoneal masses in patients with a positive clinical history of SN, clinicians should consider the possibility of late-onset RCC as a differential diagnosis. |
