| Core Tip |
Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma mostly originates from the stomach, although it can originate from other mucosal-lined organs and internal cavities as well. Many cases have suggested a strong association between a history of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and the development of gastric MALT lymphoma. In the present study, a patient with a history of H. pylori infection developed a buccal fat pad mass. Upon investigation, it was determined to be a case of extragastric MALT lymphoma. Hence, the role of H. pylori infection in the development of extragastric MALT lymphoma should be considered. |
