Seizures can occur in a critically ill patients due to neurological and non neurological causes and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. The present study in an multicenteric observational study on the incidence and etiology of new onset seizures in patients admitted in medical intensive care unit who does not have any known predisposing factors for developing seizures. We found metabolic derangements related seizures are the most common followed by tropical infections and other causes. These highlight the need for targeted monitoring and timely evaluation of those at risk of developing seizures. |
