Core Tip |
The key finding of this study is the early identification and diagnosis of two extremely serious genetic diseases determined by neonatal screening can improve life quality and expectancy. The association of sickle cell anemia and cystic fibrosis is rare. Just five cases are reported in literature. The manuscript contributes to the scientific community by adding to the literature another case of the association of serious genetic diseases. When recognizing the existence of both pathologies in association, there is a broader view of patients with these disorders, improving quality of life and reducing morbidity and mortality. |
