| Core Tip |
Surgical resection is the only curative treatment for pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (PNENs). Surgical resection should be tailored and parenchyma-preserving whenever possible. Laparoscopic approaches are feasible and safe for pancreatic body and tail lesions. Regional lymph node dissection may prolong disease free survival. Cytoreductive surgery and palliative debulking (> 90%) of PNET liver metastases may extend survival. The most relevant prognostic factors are surgical intervention, tumor differentiation, patient age, and distant metastases. |
