The treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is in a period of unprecedented revolution. A better understanding of the mechanisms that drive the survival and proliferation of CLL cells has led to the development of novel therapeutic strategies. This review article is a timely summary of the results of many of the recent key clinical and pre-clinical studies of novel therapeutic agents for CLL.
