Core Tip While surgical intervention with the Laparo-scopic Nissen Fundoplication remains the gold standard for reflux, endoscopic treatments for gastroesophageal reflux disease have become increasingly popular in recent years. This review of endoscopic methods focuses on two procedures: the Esophyx, a procedure involving endoluminal fundoplication of the gastroesophageal junction, and Stretta, a procedure involving radio-frequency ablation of the gastro-esophageal junction. While these techniques have an acceptable safety profile and lead to subjective improvement in reflux, their objective efficacy remains unclear. The review highlights the lack of standardisation of outcome measures and heterogeneity of assessment tools.
