This study shown that the ratio gamma-glutamyltransferase and aspartate aminotransferase (γ-GT/AST ratio) was not correlated with the tumour size in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and there was no difference in the AUROC between early-stage HBV-related HCC and HBV-related HCC, indicated that the γ-GT/AST ratio may be more useful than protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist II (PIVKA-II) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in the diagnosis of earlier-stage HBV-related HCC. PIVKA-II and AFP combined with the γ-GT/AST ratio can enhance the diagnostic value of these biomarkers in different categories of HBV-related HCC. |
