This manuscript provides an overview of the vascular depression construct, discusses the methods used to measure cerebrovascular disease on magnetic resonance imaging in older adults, and presents the profile of vascular depression in terms of radiological, neuropsychological, and clinical findings. The goal of this paper is to inform the neuroradiology community of the vascular depression diagnosis and to instill the importance of considering this diagnosis when evaluating magnetic resonance imaging scans of older adults. |
