Core Tip We used ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy to characterize the metabolome ofserum samples. We process the multivariate data by using pattern recognition analysis and established a dignosis model that included hydroxypurine and proline. The accuracy and area under curve were 95.00% and 0.90 for the training set, respectively, and 78.95% and 0.84 for the validation set, respectively. Z test revealed that the area under curve of the model was significantly higher than that of α-fetoprotein. The results suggest that hydroxypurine and proline might be novel biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma, and we could use pattern recognition metabolomics model to diagnose hepatocellular carcinoma.
