Core Tip Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 pandemic has abruptly impacted the management of patients with chronic immune-mediated diseases such as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). In a setting of general uncertainty, gastroenterologists have faced the need to rapidly re-organize facilities and redefine priorities in IBD clinical management. With an enormous research effort, accumulating evidence is deepening our understanding of the multifaceted interaction of IBD care and coronavirus disease 19. Direct and indirect effects of the pandemic will be present for some time, it is, therefore, necessary to keep recommendations constantly updated.
