Core Tip Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory disease in which the regulatory pathway is complex and not well understood. The interleukin (IL)-33/ST2L functional pathway is involved in the pathological process of AP. Suppression of tumorigenicity 2 protein (ST2) is a soluble receptor, which is released in the circulation acts as a decoy receptor by binding IL-33. However, soluble ST2 (sST2), as one of the most promising disease biomarker, has not been studied in the development of AP. In this study we studied the role of sST2 as an inflammatory marker for predicting the severity of acute pancreatitis.
