Key Words Systems/network psychopathology; Theoretic psychiatry; Ecology of the person; Psychoanalytic object relation theory; Addiction; Mind
Core Tip Similar to theoretical medicine, also theoretical psychiatry and a discussion of systems/network psychopathology has shown a research gap, and therefore we shed light into the question how the “social”, respectively the environment manifests in the person. Along the example of addiction we explore systems, theoretical and psychoanalytic concepts to provide a framework for the understanding of sociocultural, interpersonal and human ecological factors impacting mental health and diseases. This theoretical framework provides one way to understand and structure computationally gathered big data conceptually. The fact that humans are “situated subjects” implicates a wider view of a systemic ecology of the person that is to accompany change processes in mental health, both for prevention or treatment.
