Core Tip In this manuscript we discuss the importance of various animal models of human pathogenic coronaviruses. Of which severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV)-2 and SARS-CoV-1 were cited as pandemic and epidemic viruses by World Health Organization and SARS-CoV-2 of top most concern of public health. Due to the inadequate knowledge in analyzing the mode of action of coronavirus disease 2019 infection, we must be thoroughly familiarized with the available animal models. Therefore, we have discussed the pros and cons of various animal models, and emphasized the use of humanized mouse to study the biology of viral disease because it is convenient mimic human immune system in humanized mice.
