Key Words Acute myeloid leukemia (AML); Elderly; Adverse prognostic factor; Overall survival; Population-based study
Core Tip Our study is the first to show that age is an independent adverse prognostic factor for overall survival in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We also compared the clinical features of Japanese AML patients with those of previously reported patients in other countries. We believe that it is very important for this information to be shared with a wide range of clinical physicians, including hematologists, because the development of appropriate treatment strategies for elderly AML patients is highly desirable. We consider that this paper will be of interest to a wide range of clinical physicians.
