Against current pandemic scenario, the author analyzes the possible difficulties that could occur on essential life support protocols as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). As happened with the previous H1N1 pandemic, from when it was decided to postpone the "kiss to life" (mouth ventilation) giving priority to the precordial massage, coronavirus disease 2019 global situation could drastically reduce survival rates due to CPR and life-support protocols. For this reason, the author insists on an additional complementary resuscitation maneuver from Traditional Chinese Medicine - already published by the World Journal of Critical Care Medicine in Beijing in August 2013, in order to improve the rescue success in sudden death and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. |
