Core Tip	Our objective was to compare the surgical efficiency of laparoscopic-assisted transhitial gastrectomy (LTG) with the open transhitial gastrectomy focus on patients with Siewert type II adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction. We found that LTG is associated with better short-term outcomes, similar oncology safety. Besides, patients with advanced-stage may benefit more from LTG in 3-years overall survival and disease-free survival.
