Core Tip Several genetic risk factors have been associated with Crohn’s disease and they have provided valuable insights into the pathogenesis of the disease. However, some of the genetic changes are not observed uniformly across all populations and hence it is essential to determine their occurrence in different population. In this prospective case-control study, we have investigated the association of two common polymorphisms in PTPN2 gene (rs7234029 and rs2542151) with risk of Crohn’s Disease in an Asian country. Our results showed that contrary to observation form West, polymorphisms in PTPN2 gene were not associated with an increased risk of developing Crohn’s disease.
