Music has shown the positive effect on the surgical team in the operating room, no data has been available regarding the effects of music on endoscopist performance. The study aimed to assess the effects of music on colonoscopy performance outcomes. The patients who underwent colonoscopy while listening to music were retrospectively reviewed for colonoscopy performance outcomes, such as insertion time, adenoma and polyp detection rates. Accordingly, our findings showed that listening to music during colonoscopy had no effect on procedure performance. Moreover, our results suggested that listening to music during colonoscopy may distract trainees from appropriately detecting adenomas and polyps. |
