Core Tip |
The decision to eradicate Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in patients with functional dyspepsia requires individual assessment. This meta-analysis suggests that H. pylori eradication therapy is beneficial for symptom relief, reduces the development of peptic ulceration, and leads to histologic resolution of chronic gastritis but does not improve the quality of life and may even result in adverse events. Otherwise, other validated treatment such as acid suppression, prokinetics, and psychiatric treatment should also be considered.
