Core Tip |
Several studies have found that the incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has increased over the past several decades, even in countries where the frequency was extremely low. Industrialization, increased physician awareness, advancements in diagnostic methods and better access to medical services are factors that might explain this increase. Although few epidemiological studies have been conducted in Latin America, these analyses have described an increased incidence of IBD. In the present study, we analyzed single-center data of 716 patients with IBD. We collected data from a considerable number of patients diagnosed with IBD, enabling the demographic and clinical characterization of these individuals.
